SuperHomes Applications Open
Now in its third successive year, Tipperary Energy Agency’s SuperHomes project will present homeowners the opportunity to retrofit their house to an A3 Building Energy Rating standard (BER). Funding is available of up to 50% to achieve this.
A SuperHome is a low energy home that has implemented cost effective and sensible energy measures. The aim of the scheme is to move the homeowner away from fossil fuel heating systems by replacing these with renewable energy technologies such as a heat pump and solar photovoltaic panels. By achieving the correct balance of air-tightness and ventilation, the interior air becomes cleaner and fresher, whilst maintaining even temperatures and eliminating drafts. As a consequence, it improves the comfort levels and health of the occupants.
22 homes across Ireland were successfully upgraded in 2016 and 10 homes in 2015 as part of the Superhomes pilot project. The average net investment by the homeowner in the pilot project was €18,000. As well as average financial savings of between €1000 and €1500 per annum on oil, homeowners also benefit hugely by living in a more comfortable healthier house with better air quality.
Recruitment is now open for SuperHomes 2017. There are more places available this year and the project is open to homeowners from all over Ireland. Apply today: http://superhomes.ie/application/
